Strengthening Crucial Developmental Skills
We believe musical engagement for any child is important, and that music from ages 3-5 should be fun! For our Little Learners, we focus on pre-reading lessons, which include a combination of exploring the piano, rhythm sticks, singing, and large-movement activities. These lessons are great for helping foster brain development, problem solving, and developing hand-eye coordination.
Another added benefit of music lessons at this age is that they provide structure and routine to a child's week. I emphasize a fun, low-pressure experience. As a mother of two, I know how important it is for children to have a safe person they can interact with and "practice" focusing, listening, and learning with!
Your Child's
First Lesson
We can't wait to meet you! At the first 30-minute lesson, Ms. Grace will begin by asking your child about themselves! She will ask if they have any pets, what their favorite thing is to do, their favorite snack, etc., to help get acquainted and put them at ease. A lot of this first lesson is getting to know each other and helping them figure out what to expect from each lesson.
We will also use this first lesson to decide which book your child will use. Age 3 and young 4s will usually be in Tales of a Musical Journey, while the older 4s and 5s will use My First Piano Adventures.
Once we've gotten to know each other a bit and picked out their book materials, we'll spend the next 15 minutes learning the basics of piano. This includes, but is not limited to, learning how to sit properly, rest their hands on the piano, play black and white keys, as well as short and long sounds.
We'll wrap up this lesson with a fun sticker for them for a job well-done, and then we'll follow up with you via email detailing the information you need to purchase their books.
